About the Event
In this community talk, we will discuss the common behavioural changes and challenges, along with recommendations on how to support the person while they navigate the journey. It can become overwhelming when a loved one or a good friend is diagnosed with dementia. Your loved one or the person you are caring for may become frustrated with the effects of the condition on their ability to function. They will become more aware that they can no longer do things that they could once do with ease. This can lead to depression, anxiety, agitation and anger in the person and feelings of anxiety, guilt and stress in the family members or caregiver. The dementia journey can be frightening and exhausting, but underlying it is the relationship you have with the person. It is the care, patience, understanding, compassion and love you express during the journey that will become a lasting legacy to treasure.
This talk will be held upstairs at the Centre and morning tea will be provided.
