Looking for Baby Activities in Neutral Bay? 7 Things to do this October
Spring is here, the days are getting longer and October brings plenty of reasons to get out and about with your bub. From relaxed local playgroups and library sessions to special events at the Sydney Opera House, Taronga Zoo and around the Lower North Shore, there are lots of ways to add something different to your week.
If you are looking for baby activities in Neutral Bay and nearby, here are a few ideas to explore this October.
1. Make Neutral Bay Bubs Part of Your Week
Neutral Bay Bubs is a relaxed weekly gathering for babies aged 0 –18 months and their parents, grandparents or carers. There is no formal class or structured program — just a comfortable community space where babies can play and adults can meet other local families.
Come for a coffee, let your bub explore and take the morning at your own pace.

It is an easy way to add some social time to the week without having to travel far from home.

2. Take Your Baby to Their First Circus at the Sydney Opera House
One of the more unusual activities happening this October is Be Kind, an intimate circus and theatre experience created specifically for babies aged 6–18 months.
Running from 8–11 October, the 40-minute experience includes a 30-minute performance followed by 10 minutes when babies are invited to crawl onto the stage and explore the set. All sessions are relaxed performances, designed without loud sounds or bright lights.
It could be a memorable first introduction to live performance.
3. Explore the Free Wild Things Festival
You do not necessarily need a ticket to enjoy the Sydney Opera House with your little one.
The Wild Things International Kids Festival runs until 11 October, turning the Opera House Forecourt into an outdoor playground with free installations and performances.
Throughout the festival there are all-ages experiences including SWING, Iwagumi Air Scape and roaming performances, while Les moutons runs from 7–11 October.
Pack the pram, explore the Forecourt and enjoy the harbour while you are there.

4. Have a Zoo Morning at Taronga
Living on the Lower North Shore means one of Sydney's best-known family attractions is just around the corner.
During the school holidays, Taronga Zoo is also hosting the PAW Patrol Kids Show until 11 October, with performances at 10:30 am and 12:15 pm and a Meet & Greet at 11:15 am. The shows are included with zoo admission.
For babies, you do not need to make it a full-day expedition. A morning seeing a few animals, stopping for a feed and enjoying the harbour views can be plenty.
5. Try Rhymetime at Stanton Library
For something closer to home — and free — Rhymetime at Stanton Library in North Sydney is designed especially for babies aged 0–2 years.
Sessions use rhymes, music, singing and puppets to encourage early literacy while giving carers another opportunity to meet local families.
During school terms, sessions run:
Mondays at 11:00 am
Tuesdays at 9:30 am
Thursdays at 9:30 am
No booking is required.

6. Spend a Sunday at Headland Park
For an outdoor weekend option, Songs & Stories at Headland Park takes place on Sunday 25 October from 11:00 am–3:00 pm.
The free event includes storytelling, live music, giant puppets, a Musical Garden, outdoor art, weaving, garden games and guided bush walks.
With plenty happening throughout the day, families can drop in and stay for as long — or as little — as works around feeds and naps.
7. Finish the Month at Mosman's Children's Fair
On Tuesday 27 October, Mosman Square and Village Green will host the Children's Fair from 10:00 am–12:00 pm.
The free community event includes storytime, art activities, drumming, reptiles, rides and a Bubble Man Show.
Not every activity will be designed specifically for babies, but a busy community event can still be a fun opportunity to get outside, watch what is happening and spend the morning with other local families.

Sometimes, You Just Need to Get Out
Life with a baby does not always follow the schedule you planned. Some weeks you might make it to the Opera House or the zoo. Other weeks, getting out for an hour, having a coffee and talking to another adult feels like more than enough.
That is exactly why Neutral Bay Bubs exists.
There is no formal class, no pressure and no expectation that you arrive knowing anyone. Just bring your bub, settle in and spend the morning however works for you.
